Natalee Holloway Case Has a Place in Congress - The National Ledger
This writer *says* that he’s against governmental regulation, but he’s not.
It seems that more and more people are seeking governmental interventions as remedies to a lack of personal responsibility.
What about people who are parents being responsible and teaching their kids about safety, no matter how awkward the subject may be? What about young people taking responsibiity for their stupid mistakes (god knows I made huge mistakes in my youth and paid for them - and later learned from them).
And yeah, one’s life is a horrible price to pay for a stupid mistake, but… do we really want the government to step in each time a young person does something stupid (or dangerous or risky)?
Good grief.
And what about stuff going on in the rest of the world??? Oy, vey.
CIA has ‘excellent’ idea where bin Laden is -Time - Yahoo! News
Now that’s refreshing, isn’t it?!
Here’s the cherry on this little Peter Goss sundae:
“We’ve got a lot to do. We’re in the process of rebuilding here. I think this is our moment. I’m going to be here as long as the moment lasts. And I think it is going to last a while because we have the opportunity to build,” he said.
I know that I’m obsessive about this Schiavo thing. But if Jeb Bush can obsess, so can I!
Here’s what I want to know: Why is there an investigation NOW about the 911 call Michael Schiavo made 15 years ago? It seems to me that Bush & Friends are looking to punish Michael S. for letting her die. What a bunch of idgits. Plus, why can’t they stay out of this? If government folk want to be deeply involved in the lives of constituents, why not get deeply involved in improving educational systems or training programs for the zillions of people being laid off? Or why not start big and work on some solutions to the ever-growing problem of companies taking their production overseas?
Back to Schiavo-related stuff, sort of- I have a living will, I have medical directives. I did this before the Schiavo case got famous, because I have vivid memories of the Karen Ann Quinlan case (back in my youth) and decided then that living for years and years with no hope of ever being myself again was not the way to exist.
Probe Sought in Terri Schiavo 911 Call
Favorite quote: ” “I understand that these events took place many years ago, and that you may not be able to collect all the relevant records and physical evidence. However, Mrs. Schiavo’s family deserves to know anything that can be done to determine the cause and circumstances of her collapse 15 years ago,” Bush wrote. “The unanswered questions may be unanswerable, but the attempt should be made.” “
Anti-gay former Sen. Helms apologetic on AIDS stance - Yahoo! News
Helms writes, “it had been my feeling that AIDS was a disease largely spread by reckless and voluntary sexual and drug-abusing behavior, and that it would probably be confined to those in high risk populations. I was wrong.”
Well I’ll be damned.
