The Columbus Dispatch - AP News: Boy, 12, Sticks Gum on $1.5M Painting

Favorite quote: “Even though we give very strict guidelines on proper behavior and we hold students to high standards, he is only 12 and I don’t think he understood the ramifications of what he did before it happened, but he certainly understands the severity of it now,” said [Holly Academy director Julie] Kildee.

C’mon! You’re telling me this kid didn’t get that putting his gum onto a painting in a freakin’ museum was a bad idea? That it could very likely ruin -or at the very least hurt- the painting? Or hell, that it was WRONG? I don’t buy it. He’s a rotten child and should have a portion of his future wages sent to the museum until he pays off either the cost of the painting or for the repairs. And he’d better count his blessings if they can fix the damn thing.
